Accessibility Statement
Last updated: June 2026
Spotix is committed to providing an equitable digital environment for all users, including people with disabilities. This document outlines the efforts undertaken, current limitations, and channels for contacting our accessibility coordinator.
This statement reflects our commitment to international accessibility standards, including the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1 and the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA), as well as the European Accessibility Act (EAA) and Israel's Equal Rights for Persons with Disabilities Law.
1. Accessibility Efforts in the Platform
Spotix has been built with accessibility principles in mind, and basic accessibility has been implemented, including:
- Partial use of semantic HTML, primarily in management and marketing interfaces. Player interfaces are primarily div-based
- Clear color contrast across most interfaces
- ARIA tag integration in interactive elements
- Keyboard navigation support across most screens
- Full RTL support for Hebrew and Arabic
- Alternative text for images (Alt text) created by tour creators
2. Accessibility Audit Status
The Spotix platform implements leading accessibility principles and is in an ongoing process of improving and expanding its accessibility. The platform has not yet been formally evaluated by a certified accessibility expert for full compliance certification with WCAG 2.1 Level AA. We continue to advance this matter and incorporate improvements on an ongoing basis, taking user feedback into consideration.
3. Technological Limitations (Technical Infeasibility Exemption)
As a location-based experience platform, certain core components, due to their inherently visual and spatial nature, cannot be fully accessibility-enabled, and a technical infeasibility exemption applies:
Interactive Navigation Maps: The map component (Mapbox GL JS) is rendered on a WebGL element (Canvas), which is not readable by screen readers and cannot be navigated internally via keyboard.
Augmented Reality (AR) Locks: A component requiring real-time visual and spatial motor capability for scanning physical objects via the device camera (MindAR technology).
Camera Treasure Hunt: A component requiring simultaneous access to the camera, GPS, and orientation sensors (compass) of the device.
Photo, Video, and Audio Missions: Interactive components requiring specific sensory capabilities from the participant.
Tour creators are responsible for selecting mission types appropriate for the target audience and providing textual alternatives where possible.
4. Tour Creator Responsibility
Content creators on the Platform are responsible for:
- Adding alternative text to images they upload
- Selecting mission types appropriate for the target audience
- Providing reasonable alternatives for missions that may not be accessible to all participants
We recommend that creators design activities incorporating a diverse mix of mission types so that every participant can take part.
5. Accessibility in the Physical Environment
Activities take place in physical environments under the responsibility of the site owners (museum, park, heritage site, etc.). The physical accessibility of the site itself, including paths, entrances, and facilities, is not the responsibility of Spotix.
6. Assistive Technology Support
The Platform supports standard operating-system assistive technologies, including screen readers (such as VoiceOver on iOS and TalkBack on Android), system-level font enlargement, and similar tools.
7. Accessibility Coordinator and Feedback
We are committed to continuing to improve the Platform's accessibility. If you encounter an accessibility issue or have a suggestion for improvement, we would be glad to receive your feedback and address it promptly.
